Exam Rooms

State of the art exam room featuring the equipment and furnishings listed in the text.

State of the Art

The IERC features 18 fully-equipped examination (or interview) rooms simulating state-of-the-art clinical facilities.

Accordion partitions in 14 of the 18 rooms may be opened to accommodate small group teaching and demonstrations.

Diagnostic Equipment

The exam rooms contain sophisticated Welch Allyn diagnostic equipment, including:

• panoptic ophthalmoscopes
• otoscopes
• digital scales and thermometers
• sphygmomanometers
• high intensity exam lamps

Audiovisual Capabilities

The audiovisual capabilities offer remote viewing, two-way audio response, and video recording.

Each room has two mounted cameras (one fixed, one 360 degree pan and tilt) and a microphone mounted in the ceiling for unobtrusive monitoring of student performance and communication during exams.

Furnishings

Furnishings for the rooms include an exam table of durable lightweight material, mobile supply tray, physician stool, two side chairs, radiograph viewer (not pictured), and sink.

Supplies

A wide range of supplies typically found in primary care clinics are also provided: rubber gloves, latex free gloves, KY jelly, cotton balls, cotton swabs, tongue depressors, medicine cups, facial tissue, sharps containers, exam table paper, table pads, gowns, drapes, and pillows.
