Audiovisual Technology

Dental hygiene faculty observe and evaluation their students' performances during an OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Exam). Media Room

The Media Room provides closed circuit audiovisual equipment for observing and recording interactions in all 18 exam rooms.

Head sets are used for private individual viewing and direction of activities taking place in the exam rooms.

VHS video cassette recorders, digital video disk (DVD) recorders, and monitors allow faculty and students to video record student practices and evaluation sessions followed by self, peer, and faculty assessment of performance.

A faculty group uses the data projector and wireless laptops during a curriculum meeting in the Media Room.Data Projection

A data projector and full telecommunications capability supports small group teaching done in conjunction with clinical skills teaching.

Ethernet Connectivity

Wireless and wired hubs provide Ethernet access using the IERC’s 20 laptops and/or students’ handheld computers in each room.

The IERC Technology Coordinator adjusts the camera settings for each exam room from the Technology Control Room.Technology Control Room

The Technology Control Room is located next door to the Media Room. The master control board allows viewing and recording of interactions in any of the exam rooms.

The 'All Call' microphone can be used to make general announcements or speak with individual rooms.

The video routing system can be programmed to follow and record students' interactions as they move through a sequence of rooms, so that at the end of the session, each student has a record of their performance.
